March, Womens’ History Month, comes to a close. As we start to say goodby to March isn’t it only appropriate that today is opening day of another exciting baseball season and the countless times “Take Me Out To the Ballgame” will be sung this year? Why you ask? Well, back in 1908 when Katie Casey’s beau asked her to go to a play, which he assumed a women would enjoy attending, she responded with “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”. Not only was a song born, look at the lyrics, and see Ms. Casey must have been minding her teams statistics, immersing herself and enjoying baseball. What a great piece of history that highlights a self assured young woman. Stay tuned. Monday I will post a Katie Casey baseball tracker. Even if you are new to spreadsheets, you and your class will be empowered through the magic of spreadsheets becoming active and engaged learners. Through baseball discover patterns, statistics, predictions, geography and more.
